2007/2008 Session Competitions/Activities

Junior and Company Section Swimming, 06/October/2007

The new session got of to a really good start with 9 Companies for the junior swimming and 8 Companies for the company swimming, 89 participants in all. A lot of time was lost with companies changing name and deleting boys who had not turned up, which is the norm for any competition.
 
Once the competition started it ran very smoothly and there was even time for the boys to have some free time swimming while the scores were added up.
 
The 35th were the outright winners of both the junior and company competition and both trophies were presented to them again!!!
 
This was a really good start to the competition hopefully all the others will be support as well as this one.

Junior Section 7 – a – side Football, 17/November/2007

After everyone had signed in, there were six companies entered in to the competition. After sorting all the members present we had enough to form 7 teams with one being a mixed team of boys from different companies. As all the teams were ready to start when it was their turn, it made it easier to play the games none stop.
 
The games were all five minutes long and as usual, were played in a friendly and sporting manner. This was a pleasure for all parents and staff who were watching and also made it easier for the timer/score keeper Dave Hedges (6th company) and the referee to enjoy the atmosphere of the morning.

Junior and Company Section squadron races, 18/January/2008

To cut down on too many nights out for activities the Company and Junior Squadron Races were held on the same night. Five companies were represented and there were eleven teams in total.
 
The Junior Squadron Races were held in two heats of three, the Company Section races were held in two heats, one of two and one of three.

A good night was had by all with a full hall and lots of spectators

Thanks to all staff and members for a pleasant evening, and thanks to the 10th for hosting it.

Anchor Junior Section Sports Day 14/June/2008

Saturday 14th June was sports day, which was our last competition of the session. All companies acknowledged receipt of the entry forms, with 7 companies taking part and one apology from a company who were away at camp.
 
The weather stayed dry but a bit windy, the competition got underway with everyone joining in all the races, which flowed quickly form one race to another. Everyone took part in a sporting manner.
 
Thanks to all those who helped on the day and thanks to the 6th for hosting the competition. Once again there was no trophy for the junior competition which is not fair on the boys/girls who win it. If you won it the previous year and cannot make it on the day to return it, please ensure you pass it to someone else to bring
